MATERIALS.

At Token, materials are more than just components—they’re the foundation of our creative process and the soul of every piece we create.

Our fascination with the interplay of texture, form, and substance drives us to seek out the most exquisite and ethically sourced materials. From the hardwoods that form the backbone of our designs to the metals and leathers that complete them, each material is carefully chosen for its beauty, quality, and story.

WOOD

Our commitment to sustainability begins with our materials. We use exclusively North American hardwoods sourced from the East Coast of the United States, home to a rich and diverse forest ecosystem. Many of our woods come from Mennonite communities in Pennsylvania, where families sustainably forest their own trees, ensuring ethical sourcing practices. We also seek out naturally fallen trees and deadwood from upstate New York, honoring the life cycle of these materials and giving them second lives.

Each wood variety carries distinct characteristics, from its grain patterns to its tonal richness. Every tree and plank is unique, and Will Kavesh, our co-founder and creative director, personally selects the wood for each project. This ensures that every piece we create is not only beautiful, but perfectly, personally suited to the design’s specifications and the artistic vision it embodies.

By prioritizing local sourcing, ethical practices, and renewable resources, we ensure that every piece is not only heirloom-quality but also environmentally responsible. Our made-to-order process further minimizes waste and celebrates the individuality of each design.

Metal

Our custom metalwork is designed and fabricated entirely in-house, reflecting the same meticulous attention to detail that defines all of our pieces. From structural frames to intricate hardware, each component is crafted to complement the form and function of our designs. We work with high-quality sheet metal and solid blocks, shaping and finishing them with techniques honed over decades.

The finishing process is an essential step, adding texture and depth to the metal surfaces while ensuring durability and refinement. Whether it’s a brushed, polished, or matte finish, every choice is made to enhance the aesthetic harmony of the final piece.
